英国「Amber」における 「学びと参加プロジェクト」の転機 ―地域コミュニティ連携によるメディア実践とそのデザイン― “Learning and Participation Project” as a Turning Point for “Amber” in the UK: Media Practice and Design with Local Community Engagement 鳥海, 希世子 トリウミ, キヨコ TORIUMI, Kiyoko 地域コミュニティ 学び デザイン 参加型アプローチ メディア実践 local community learning design participatory approach media practice This article is a case study of the artists’ group “Amber Film & Photography Collective （hereafter Amber）” which has been active since 1968 and is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England. Amber’s media practices have been discussed principally from the perspective of art and social movements in previous research; this paper will consider Amber from the perspective of design. After a brief overview of Amber’s long career, the author introduces the recent “Learning and Participation Project” and suggests that it is a turning point for Amber’s design activity. Specific cases of the “Learning and Participation Project” include 2 projects implemented in collaboration with local elementary schools on the culture of a juvenile jazz band and the history of the shipbuilding industry, both of which once existed in the area.
