However, there are few comprehensive studies on the change in properties of leather-wear by cleaning. Therefore, we conducted repeated cleaning tests on various kinds of clothing leathers and investigated their properties. Our study has proved that a shrinkage in dimensions and a decrease in fat content were observed when the leather was subjected to dry cleaning. Furthermore, the color faded away for the suede and nubuck leathers, and a decrease in the gloss rate was observed for the grain leather. In addition, the handling, softness, waxiness and fullness decreased and the stiffness increased due to dry cleaning.
