However little attention has been paid to his studies conducted in Japan so far. In this paper I aimed to explicate some of his studies in Japan, taking up his field study at Hyuga as an example. In his Hyuga survey I have established and developed his theory based on the ruins and the remains which he had excavated. I believe this method is the very positive approach which he advocated.
