Their ethnic characteristics are considered to have come from their traditional form of occupation engaged in the hunting or the sifting cultivation. The hunting or cultivation for years ended up to overhunting or loss of soil fertility, so that they needed to migrate in the mountains looking for a new land. The Yao people prepared a document which showed that they were related by blood to an Emperor who was a person in paramount authority in China. This document is called the "Passport Ping Huang Chuan Tieh". It guaranteed their safety while they were migrating in the mountain. In this paper (Part I), We examined the background of the "Passport Ping Huang Chuan Tieh" by introducing some preceding studies and discussing the basic characters of the Yao including their history and distribution., 4, KJ00004179200, 論文, Article}, pages = {1--19}, title = {ヤオ族の評皇券牒(I) : 槃瓠神話と移動経路を中心に}, volume = {14}, year = {2005}, yomi = {タバタ, ヒサオ} }
