To determine the effect of soybean isoflavone as the anti-osteoporotic agent in view of osteoclastic apoptosis, Bim expression that has a key role for osteoclastic apoptosis was measured in femur distal of ovariectomized female aging rats fed 0.2% soybean isoflavone supplemented diet (group-IF) for about 12 weeks. As a result, the isoflavone fed rats showed that 1) no change in some organ weights including the uterus was -observed, 2) decreases in femoral-bone mineral density (BMD) by OVX were prevented, 3) mRNA expression of Bim that promote osteoclastic apoptosis was increased significantly compared with the control group.
