The program provides students with experience and education beginning with pre-training in Tokyo, Japan followed by practice-training in Boston, USA. In the pre-training, students learn basic classroom English, how to make self-introductions, and English activities that can be used with children. In addition, they have opportunities to visit and practice at the British School in Tokyo. In the practice-training, the students observe classes, assist teachers and children, and engage in activities using English to the full extent of their abilities. The results of a quantitative questionnaire survey in the first year, and qualitative portfolio research in the second year reveal the educational and cultural significance of the program. They showed that students were highly motivated and ready to communicate with and teach foreign children as a part of their pre-training. The practice-training allowed them to experience teaching American children. Their positive feedback about the activities in which they participated indicate that their confidence in their own ability increased. The program triggered in students new perspectives which they can use as a foundation for their own educational philosophy., 12, KJ00007252120}, pages = {91--113}, title = {〔資 料〕アメリカ初等教育演習(春季ボストン教育研修)の紹介とポートフォリオ調査による分析}, volume = {848}, year = {2011}, yomi = {コノマ, エイコ and マツモト, ジュン and コマヤ, マミ and ソノ, ヒロアキ and オシタニ, ヨシオ} }
