The critical review of leadership research reveals that social psychologists focused too much on the negative side of leadership based on "negative psychology"(Wang & Thompson, 2006). However, leadership is a process of social influence which includes both positive and negative sides, and in this sense, leadership is an ambivalent social process. Leadership can also be discussed as the social representation of people from a particular social group in a particular social history. Recent new research into positive leadership is introduced, and, at the same time, negative and destructive leadership is also examined.
