 note = {Since the end of World War II discussions have been held and suggestions have been made with regard to core curricula for library science education programs. These discussions took place both before and after plans for library science education standards and programs had been announced. However, the details of the discussions have never been made public in detail. The objective of this article is to detail the discussions of the core curricula for library science education programs from the 1970s to the early 2000s from the perspective of specialized librarian training for different types of libraries. The results indicate that, though such discussions were not frequent, it is significant that they took place for such a long period of time. The results also identify problems with the discussions, in that many of the opinions given in those discussions did not refer to the preceding literature, and that the discussions lacked the examination of candidate core programs that had been suggested as necessary.},
