But Japanese native speakers often feel it impolite, although they also use \"-te kudasai\" for a request, for example, \"Tasukete kudasai. (Please help me).\" This paper examines when an expression with \"-te kudasai\" is perceived impolite. The result indicates that native speakers of Japanese usually perceive such expressions with \"-te kudasai\" as order. Moreover it is also found that when native speakers ask someone to do something, they use more indirect expressions. Native speakers of Japanese also consider various elements such as social distance, power, social status, situations, environments, effect to others, and so forth.
